How to Add Google Analytics to Your Lovable Application

To add Google Analytics to a Lovable application, open Connectors → Google Analytics → Add connection, enter your GA4 web-stream measurement ID (it starts with G-), then ask Lovable in project chat to link the project. Lovable loads gtag.js and sends page views and events for you.

Before you begin

  • A GA4 property with a web stream, and its measurement ID from the Google Analytics admin area.
  • A Lovable project to measure. If you have not got one, join Lovable and create it.

Create the GA4 measurement ID

  1. In Google Analytics, open Admin → Data streams and select or create a Web stream for your site.

  2. Copy the Measurement ID — it starts with G-.

Connect it in Lovable

  1. In Lovable, open Connectors → Google Analytics → Add connection.

  2. Enter a display name, paste the G- measurement ID, set who can use the connection, and click Connect. Creating connections is available by default on Free, Pro and Business plans; Enterprise workspace admins may need to enable app and chat connectors.

  3. Ask Lovable in project chat to link the project:

Connect this project to my Google Analytics connection and load gtag.js on every page, sending page views and events.
  1. Publish your changes so the tag is live on the published site, not just the preview.

Track more than page views

Once the connection is in place, ask Lovable to send events for the actions that matter in your app — sign-ups, button clicks, form submissions — and it will wire the calls for you.

How to verify it works

  • Open your published site in a private window and accept any cookie prompts your site shows.

  • In Google Analytics, open Reports → Realtime and watch yourself appear.

  • Check the page source of the live site for the gtag.js script with your G- ID.

Common errors and fixes

  • No data in Realtime. The tag is not on the published site yet (publish again), or the measurement ID is wrong.
  • Wrong ID format. GA4 IDs start with G-; older Universal Analytics IDs will not work.
  • Tag loads in preview but you see no data. Preview traffic is not what you should measure — check the published site.
  • Branding changes in Google take time. New Google-side settings can take minutes or hours to apply.

Frequently asked questions

Is Google Analytics free? Yes, GA4 is free.

Can I use Google Tag Manager instead? Lovable documents a direct GA4 connector; there is no dedicated Tag Manager connector, so use the GA4 route.

Do I need to edit code? No — the connector and a chat prompt handle it.

What about cookie consent? If your site asks for consent, respect it — analytics should only load for visitors who agreed.
