How to Publish a Lovable Website: Step-by-Step Guide

Publishing a Lovable website takes about two minutes: open your project, click Publish in the top-right corner of the editor, confirm the suggested lovable.app address in the dialog, then click Publish. Lovable builds your app, runs a security scan and gives you a live HTTPS link you can share straight away.
Before you begin
- A Lovable project you want to make public. If you have not created one yet, join Lovable and start a project first.
- Access to the project editor as the owner or an editor.
- A rough idea of what should be public, because only publicly published apps can appear in search results — unpublished, access-restricted and branded workspace URL apps do not.
What actually goes live when you publish
Publishing deploys a snapshot of your app. Edits you make afterwards appear in your editor preview but do not update the live site until you publish again. A dot on the Publish button shows there are changes waiting to deploy, and it clears once you publish.
- App code — the UI, pages and client-side code go live when you publish.
- Database changes and edge functions — on most projects these may apply to the live backend immediately, without publishing. On projects that still have separate Test and Live environments, they reach Live at publish instead.
- Secrets used by server functions are picked up by the preview automatically; the published app receives new or changed values at the next publish.
Publish your website for the first time
-
Open your project in the editor and look at the top-right corner. On a narrow window the Publish control may appear as an icon next to Share.
-
Click Publish. The dialog suggests a
lovable.appaddress — adjust it if you want something different — and shows a security scan of your project. -
Click Publish in the dialog. Deployment usually takes a minute or two; Lovable shows your live link when it finishes.
-
Open the link and check your pages load. Publishing to a
lovable.appURL includes HTTPS automatically, and publishing through the dialog is free on all plans.
Publish later changes
-
Keep editing as normal. Accepting a draft adds its edits to your unpublished changes — it does not publish them.
-
When your changes are ready, click Publish, then Publish changes.
-
Wait for the dot on the Publish button to clear before telling people the site is updated.
You can also ask Lovable for help from chat:
Check whether my latest changes are live on the published site and list anything still waiting to publish.
How to verify it works
- Open the live URL in a private window so you are not seeing cached previews.
- Refresh a nested route directly (for example
/blog/some-article) to confirm deep links load. - If you changed the database, confirm the new data appears for a signed-out visitor.
- Check the dot on the Publish button has cleared.
Common errors and fixes
- The live site has not changed. You edited but did not click Publish changes. The preview always shows more than the live snapshot.
- A database change is already visible before publishing. That is expected on projects without separate environments — backend data changes can apply immediately while code changes wait for publish.
- Security scan warnings. Ask Lovable in chat to fix the specific findings, then publish again.
- The app is not appearing in Google. Confirm it is published publicly; restricted or unpublished apps cannot be indexed. Then connect Google Search Console (covered in a separate tutorial on this site).
Frequently asked questions
Is publishing free? Yes — publishing through the dialog is included on all plans, and the lovable.app URL includes HTTPS.
Can I change the lovable.app address? Yes, adjust the suggested address in the publish dialog before confirming.
Can I use my own domain instead? Yes. Custom domains are set up in project settings and covered in the custom domain tutorial on this site.
How often should I publish? Whenever your changes are ready for visitors. There is no penalty for publishing often, and search engines read the live snapshot.

Next, connect a custom domain, then add Google Search Console so search engines pick up your site faster. If you are starting a new project for this, join Lovable and follow the steps above.
