How to Build a Customer Portal With Lovable

To build a customer portal with Lovable, add accounts, define what each customer can see and ask Lovable to create a protected portal for their own orders, files or subscription. Enforce access in database and file permissions. For billing changes, link to the payment provider’s hosted portal rather than recreating card management.
What you need
You need a project with accounts and a clear list of customer data. Start with Join Lovable. Use sample customers while testing.
1. Define portal actions
List what customers can view and change: profile details, orders, documents, support requests or subscription status. Decide what only staff may change.
2. Request a protected portal
Build a customer portal for signed-in customers to view their own orders, invoices and uploaded documents. Customers must never access another customer’s records. Enforce ownership in database and storage permissions, add empty and error states, and include a Manage subscription button that opens the payment provider’s hosted portal in a new tab.
3. Keep billing secure
Built-in Stripe and Paddle payments offer hosted portals for cancelling subscriptions, updating payment methods and viewing invoices. They open in a new browser tab and do not work inside the Lovable preview panel.
4. Test with two customers
Create records for two test customers. Confirm each sees only their own information after reload. Try signed-out access, file links and admin-only actions.
